JobRoost by OddLeaf
Privacy Policy
Effective: 16 October 2026 · Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains how JobRoost, provided by OddLeaf, handles information in the Android app and on these website pages. Contact OddLeaf at Oddleafdev@hotmail.com for privacy questions or requests.
JobRoost stores your working records on your device. A Google connection is optional and is used for backup and restore. OddLeaf does not operate a server that receives your JobRoost database or backups. The app contains no advertising, advertising-ID collection or embedded usage-analytics service.
1. Information you choose to keep in the app
JobRoost stores a local database and associated files. Depending on the features you use, these can include:
- Business profiles, contact details, addresses, service areas, logos, business cards and preferences such as currency and invoice layout.
- Customer names, contact details, addresses and notes; job descriptions, schedules, status, time worked, billable time, prices and work notes.
- Quotes, invoices and itemised charges, payment amounts, dates, methods and references, outstanding balances, invoice reminders and resend history.
- Expenses, receipts, mileage entries and labourer/helper contact details, rates, costs and payment records.
- Photos, documents, generated PDFs, proof packs and signatures that you choose to capture for a job or a particular invoice.
This information is used to provide the records, calculations, documents and reminders you request. Recording a payment is bookkeeping; JobRoost does not process card payments or access your bank account. Mileage is entered by you; the app does not track your live location. Business profiles are local records, not online OddLeaf accounts.
2. Optional Google account connection
You can use the core app without a Google connection. If you choose to connect Google during setup or in Backup & export, Google handles sign-in and permission approval. JobRoost receives an account identity and authorisation through Google's sign-in software. It displays and stores the connected email address locally so you can identify the backup account; that setting can also be included in your backup. The app does not ask for or receive your Google password.
The Drive permission requested is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata. It lets JobRoost create, find, update and retrieve its own backup in the account's hidden application-data folder. It does not grant access to browse your normal Drive files, Gmail messages, Google Contacts or Google Calendar.
3. Google Drive backup and restore
When you connect and complete backup setup, automatic backup is enabled. You can switch it off in Backup & export. When enabled, changes are saved locally first and may then be backed up automatically, with a daily fallback check while the app is running. You can also request a backup manually.
The backup ZIP contains the JobRoost database and available app-managed photos, documents, proof packs and generated invoices. It can therefore include customer and helper details, financial records, signatures, notes and business settings. It is sent directly from your device to your Google Drive app-data storage, not to an OddLeaf server. JobRoost normally updates one latest backup file and reads its file ID, modification time and size to show backup information. Restoring downloads the backup and replaces the local app data after confirmation.
JobRoost uses Google account and Drive data only to provide the connection, backup and restore features described here. It does not use Google data for advertising, profiling or AI training, or sell it. This use complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. OddLeaf has no routine access to read your Drive backup.
Google handles authentication and cloud storage under its Privacy Policy. You can disconnect in JobRoost or revoke access in your Google Account connections. Disconnecting stops further access; it does not itself erase the backup already in Drive.
4. Device features and permissions
- Photos and files: the camera and system photo/file pickers are used when you choose to add a photo, receipt, logo, business card or document.
- Microphone and spoken notes: selecting Speak note uses the device's speech-recognition service to turn speech into text. Depending on that service and your device settings, audio may be sent to its provider, such as Google, for recognition. JobRoost does not guarantee on-device speech processing. JobRoost saves the resulting note text, not an audio recording. You can type instead and deny microphone permission.
- Notifications: local notifications remind you about jobs and unpaid invoices. You can manage permission in Android settings. Notification content may be visible on your lock screen according to those settings.
- Location, contacts and calendar: JobRoost does not request live-location access or read your device's address book or calendar. An address you choose to open in Maps is passed to the external maps service.
5. Sharing and other services
JobRoost does not automatically send invoices or messages to customers. When you choose to share, export, call, text, email or open a map, the relevant file, text, phone number, email address or location you entered is passed to the selected external app or service. Review the content and recipient before sending. Those services handle it under their own privacy terms.
OddLeaf does not sell JobRoost data. There are no advertising SDKs, Advertising ID access, embedded analytics or crash-reporting services in this version of JobRoost. Google Play, Android, Google sign-in and your device's other services may process their own operational information under their own settings and policies.
6. Storage, security and retention
Local records are kept in the app's private storage until you delete them or clear the app's data. Access is protected by Android's app storage controls and your device security. Google API connections use HTTPS. The local database and exported backup ZIPs are not separately password-encrypted by JobRoost, so protect your device and keep exported files somewhere secure.
Android's own device backup or device-transfer features may also copy app data according to your device and Google account settings; these are separate from JobRoost's optional Drive backup. Google, your speech provider, email provider and Cloudflare may process information outside your country using their published privacy and transfer arrangements. JobRoost does not select a regional Google storage location.
7. Deleting, exporting and controlling your data
- Edit or delete records using the app's available controls, and use Backup & export for local backups and readable exports.
- Clearing JobRoost storage in Android settings or uninstalling removes the local app data from that device. Copies exported elsewhere, cloud backups and device backups need to be managed separately.
- To stop automatic Drive uploads, turn off Automatic backup or disconnect Google. To delete the existing hidden Drive backup, use Google Drive's Settings → Manage apps, find JobRoost and use the option to delete hidden app data where Google makes it available. Revoking access alone is not the same as deleting stored data.
- Deleting a record does not remove it from older exports, safety backups, files already shared or backups on other devices. Remove those copies separately if needed. Restoring an older backup can restore previously deleted records.
There is no separate OddLeaf login account to delete. OddLeaf cannot remotely erase records held only on your device or in your Google account. If another business uses JobRoost to keep information about you, contact that business about its records.

9. Your rights and policy changes
Where applicable, you can ask OddLeaf to access, correct or delete personal information it holds, restrict its use or provide a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw optional permissions through the app, Android settings or your Google account. Contact Oddleafdev@hotmail.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
We will update this page if JobRoost's data handling changes, showing the revised date above. Optional features remain subject to the permissions and controls described here.
